Department Profile

The Department of Microbiology was established since the inception of University in 2008. The Department consists of a vibrant community of faculty, researchers and students. We offer Post-Graduate and Doctoral Programs in Microbiology. Research within the Department is focused on broad areas of Agricultural, Environmental and Industrial Microbiology, more particularly confined to Microbial Biodiversity, Metagenomics, Biofertilizers and Biopesticides, Biofuel production, Biodegradation, Bioremediation and production of industrially important Microbial Enzymes, etc. The Faculty, Post Doctoral fellows, Research Scholars, Staff and Students of the Department make an outstanding contribution to research in the field of Microbiology. The faculty publish their research in leading journals and present their work at national and international conferences. The Department has built up an academic reputation of excellence in teaching and research. The Department has well equipped laboratories for conducting practicals and carrying out research. The students are well trained in such a way that they are absorbed in various pioneering research laboratories in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Diagnostic centers and also in Food, Pharmaceutical and Agricultural industries. The CBCS syllabus for M.Sc. course covers a total of 16 papers in various sub disciplines of Microbiology.
